Chef Nimbleknees

I think it all started when Nim saw the balloons tied to a gate. He did try nibbling them but really a mouth full of rubber is not that tasty. He smelt pie.. he couldn't see it but oh boy could he smell it! His nose started twitching like a divining rod and lead him past the gate and down the path and round to the backdoor and through the catflap. There was no-one about, all was quiet as Nim crept towards the windowsill where a pie was cooling. Nim had never been in such a kitchen before and gazed about in awe.. this is what he had dreamed about all those long cold nights in his cave. Here was warmth and wonderful smells and, and, and JAM!!!!

Do you have an idea how this story unfolds? Let me know and I will try and incorporate your idea into the story.

Printed onto neenah, coloured with promarkers and spectrum noir pencils.I then manipulated the image within Craft Artist 2 and added the kitchen. More details are on my blog. I hope you have a moment to visit me there. Sue x

My inspiration day for Rick St Dennis MFA digital stamps

Hi there everyone, it is my turn again to share my Elite Design Team work, here  on the Sparkle and Glitter Blog,
today my project is a cute one, using '20 winks' this digital stamp is available in two formats, one with and one without the background/border. the one I am using today is without the border.
I think she is such a cute fairy, taking a nap in a flower... it looks like a comfy bed, I think you will agree!

I coloured the fairy using copics
the background to the image was done with alcohol ink and blender solution

the papers I chose to go with this delightful fairy are from Craftwork cards,
the  butterfly edging die is tim holtz butterflight  cut in a corrugated brown cardstock and embellished with liquid pearls in petal pink

The flowers are cut from a papermania Oyster blush using the tim holtz tattered garland die, with more liquid pearls at the centre.
the decorative 'twizzles' were offcuts of the paper that I wound round my pokey tool!

I hope you have enjoyed this sweet whimsical card and to check out more of my work please check out my Blog!

RSD’s First Showcase for 2015

Welcome to our first 2015 Rick St. Dennis MFA (RSD) Showcase. Some, and sometimes all, of Rick’s Elite Design Team (EDT will be showcasing projects completed with some of Rick’s amazing digital images. Rick will be giving us a monthly theme and we will be picking our own images from his vast collection of images in his Etsy and Zibbet shops.

Rick’s choice of a theme for us was Valentine BUT we could not use tradtional Valentine colors. We were not allowed to use reds, pinks, or purples. Stay a while and check out what his designers have come up with.

My Knight in Shining Armour

This is a Valentine's card that I have made using a Rick St Dennis image called Knight for Sue. I love fairytales and that was my inspiration for this card. Ive coloured my Knight with copic markers and then fussy cut him out. Ive popped him up with foam tape onto a heart that I die cut and embossed out of red mirri card. I started with a red card blank then matted in silver mirri card followed by a paper from the new Kaiser collection XO. The sentiment is from the same Kaiser paper pad.
The copic Markers that I used are C1,C3,C5,E31,E35,Y23,Y38,B14,B18,R22,R24,R27,R29,E000,E00,E02

The images are so really gorgeous and Rick makes it easy for us to colour them too - he indicates where the shading should go!  Makes me look like I can colour!!  When I use these lovely images, I like to let them be the focal point of the card.  If you like this image - 1960 Coutoure Style Hat click on the link.  For more information about this card, check out my blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by Sparkle and Glitter - see you again soon.

Inspiration with 20 Winks.

Good Morning Fiona R here today. I've been playing with another of Rick's fabulous images and this time I chose 20 Winks Digital Stamp availale in Rick's Zibbett Store. Now for those of you who know me well I don't normally do cute I tend to create on the Dark Side. But I am out of my comfort zone once again to promote Rick's fabulous and diverse collection of images.
I  printed out the image on Neenah cardstock and coloured her up with my copics. I chose to use the BG family of colours. I then fussy cut and put to one side. I created my card base ( 8x8) from white cardstock and then matted and layered a complimenting shade of card to tie in with the main image. I then embossed a piece of Centura Pearl Cardstock using a Spellbinders 3d Embossing folder. I love the depth and dimension you get and I have quite a collection of them now. The embossed cardstock was then matted and layered onto the card. 3d foam pads were then attached to the main Image and attached to the card base to make her pop. To finish bling was added to the two opposite corners. A very fresh spring feel to this card was what I was aiming for and I think I achieved it.

Thanks for stopping by. I do hope you will check out Rick's Zibbett Store where you will find a plethora of fabulous images.

Burlesque in Fushia

Burliecuties   Number 2 from a sheet of 6
Rick's Facebook page
Ok so they are just putting on a small show to a select audience but the billboard has their names correctly spelt and the tickets have all been sold. Families and friends are waiting, and Grandma has found her lost sequins and is ready! Liza from yesterday has rehearsed and is waiting for Lola to go through her act.. everyone is so excited but there is just something not quite right about the Theatre tonight. Still, I'm sure everything is going to be alright on the night.

I can't believe the value you get in Rick's digi image sheets. He has drawn six of the prettiest little dancers all ready for you to colour in and place on your projects.. and where better for them to appear? The Grand Opera Theatre!

Charlotte Chic Valentine

Well I hope you are not fed up of my calendars :)  I just have to share with you the cover that I made for my husband's calendar.  He complained that I had done one for my son's youngest teacher... so I needed to make one for him.  You saw the May page done using Sadie for the progressive challenge.

For this I thought it was just perfect to use the fabulous Charlotte chic valentine girl she seemed the perfect party girl to start off the year!
I just thought she was so much fun to use.  And the red and black was just perfect with the grey :)  So here she is colored with my copics.
She's on the cover and makes the calendar stand up :)  So what do you think?  Is that fun?  Well my hubby liked it... so that counts right lol  If you want to see how I made it check out my post here.

Hope you like my inspiration. Check out all the other fabulous images in the Zibbet store or in the Etsy store!

Have a fabulous  Sunday!!!!

Good Morning all you lovely people. I hope you are not suffering too much with the cold weather a lot are getting in the northern hemisphere. Keep well wrapped and retreat into the warmth of your crafty space - you know you want to!
There are a number of challenges dotted about - in blogland and in our own Facebook group that feature Rick's images. Rick is sponsoring a few challenges in the coming months. The list is updated on his blog if you want to go see them all.

We will be showcasing a selection of themed images both on this blog and on Airless Chambers
on the 25th - be sure to come back and check this out. I hope you will enjoy both showcases - The entire team will be joining in, I think, this month.

Our Progressive Challenge is heading into the second half of the first phase today and it's Team B's turn to have the spotlight turned on them.
As usual on the first month the theme is

"Anything Goes".

We'd love to see those projects other than cards.
Digis are so versatile and can be resized easily to fit any project.
There are so many images in the shops at Etsy and Zibbet that you will be spoiled for choice and you just have to check out the new 2015 Fairy images!!! Mikey Mandrake (zibbet link) is my favorite. Which one is yours?

Mall Girlz Mixed Media Tag Book Part II

Hi everyone. It's Bonnie here with the next three images from the mixed media tag book I showed you last week. If you missed that post last week, you can check it out here. Again, I have used images from Rick's Mall Girls digi sheet. Since the backgrounds were completed in the same fashion as explained in my last post, I won't go into all of that again. Instead, I will focus on how I have created continuity within the tag book while still changing up enough elements to keep it interesting and slightly unpredictable.

I coloured all of the  five images with Prismacolor pencils keeping the same basic palette but varying the combinations and the proportions of each. I fussy cut them leaving a narrow white border and then each was then mounted on black cardstock and fussy cut again leaving a narrow black border. This double mat provides greater contrast to the busy colourful backgrounds as well as providing greater strength to the image. This helps when the image will be popped up on foam tape like these have been and also frames the image stopping the eye and notifying it that something important is within the frame.

The sale signs were computer generated and the open letters were coloured with marker. The black border and signpost give weight to the signs and provide that pop of black that I like so much. Doing them all the same way adds continuity to the tag book but varying the colours of the markers as well as the sale words keeps it interesting and fun. The sayings vary in content and font used but all are printed on white cardstock and have been matted in black.

All tags have doodled borders but each one is slightly different from the others. All tags have punched black pieces added but again they vary in shape and detail. By repeating elements and details throughout the tag book, there is a sense that they belong to a whole. By changing it up within the elements, it makes each tag fresh and helps the viewer want to see the next one. It also keeps it fun and challenging for me while I am creating.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. All of the Mall Girlz and I appreciate it. The sale is still on at Rick's Zibbet shop which is where this digi sheet can be found...along with 800+ other fabulous images and a huge variety of content...something for every taste.. You can get the details and discount code in this post here. We would love to see your creations on Rick's Facebook page or as an entry in the Progressive Challenge or Facebook Art Contest.

Shop 'til you drop ~ Mall Girlz

Hi everyone. It's Bonnie here today sharing part of a mixed media tag book I created with the five fabulous images from Rick's Mall Girls digi sheet. I love these women: their quirkiness, sense of style, and awesome hair. They are so much fun to colour and make me smile. Today I will share the cover and first two tags of the book which you can see above.

All of the tags were created in the same way. The larger tag shapes are heavy black cardstock and the smaller tags which those mat are cut from mixed media paper to withstand the spray inks and other media. The cover features one of the girlz enlarged and cropped to a head shot. It was fussy cut and backed with an oval of sprayed paper and then matted in white. The signs were matted in black and the open letters coloured in with marker. The hearts and a second mat were cut from more ink sprayed papers.

The mixed media backgrounds were created by spraying the mixed media papers with water plus a variety of inks, some with mica for the extra sparkle. Several layers were applied to get spots, drips, and splotches. White or black gesso and white embossing paste were applied through several stencils to create pattern and texture.  Stamping was also added with Archival inks. A different doodled border was added to each tag and various shapes punched from black cardstock were also added to the backgrounds.

Each tag has a shopping sign created on the computer with an open font. The lettering was filled in with markers and the sign was matted with black. A narrow strip formed the sign post on each one. The shopping sayings were also computer generated and matted in black.

Each of the Mall Girlz was coloured with Prismacolor pencils, sticking to the same colour palette for continuity. They were fussy cut leaving a narrow white border and then matted with black. They were each popped up on foam tape for dimension and to create those lovely shadows I like so much.

Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope you will return next Tuesday to meet the rest of the Mall Girlz. They are unabashed shop-a-holics and I'll bet they were first in line for those crazy Boxing Day sales. If this set of images speaks to you, remember there is still a sale going on at both of Rick's shops, Zibbet and Etsy. You can read more about it and get the coupon codes here. You can even shop in your pajamas and these Mall Girlz will never
